NAPERVILLE, Ill. – With one event in Indy during the Month of May already in the books, it is time for the second USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires event of the popular racing month. Already competing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the GMR Grand Prix, TJ Speed’s Christian Weir is now set for his one and only oval race of 2023 at the .686-mile Lucas Oil Raceway during the Carb Night Classic.
The USF Pro 2000 rookie currently sits 11th in the championship point standings, five points from P10 and only 30 points away from a top-five position.
“I would not say that we have had the best season to date, but we did have a good race a few weeks ago and earned a pair of top-ten results,” said Weir. “I think that has helped boost my confidence heading into this weekend and the one and only oval event of the season.”
As one of three drivers in the TJ Speed USF Pro 2000 program, Weir has learned to work with his teammates to help better both himself and the team on every race weekend.
Weir added, “We have continuously improved and seem to get better as the weekend progresses. We will have a few test sessions before qualifying on Thursday and think that if we continue to do what we have been doing, we can perform well.”
