AVONDALE, La. – Turn 3 Motorsport continued its strong start to the 2025 USF Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Continental Tire with a pair of victories from Alessandro de Tullio at this weekend’s tripleheader event at NOLA Motorsports Park. The 2.74-mile, 13-turn road course hosted Rounds 3, 4 and 5 of the championship, where de Tullio brought home two wins and a second-place finish, extending his season win total to three out of the first five races. De Tullio now sits second in the drivers’ championship, just 16 points behind leader Max Garcia after making up ground with a strong weekend at NOLA.

The weekend began with promising pace across all three cars in qualifying. In Friday’s Qualifying 1 session, Alessandro de Tullio narrowly missed out on pole position and secured a strong P2 starting spot for Race 1. Tyke Durst qualified a strong 11th, while Cooper Becklin ended the session in P17 as he worked to unlock more pace.

Saturday’s Qualifying 2 session was interrupted by a red flag just as the team prepared for their new tire run. With only one flying lap available once the session resumed, de Tullio delivered under pressure to take pole for Race 2. Durst qualified ninth—his best career starting position—and Becklin improved to P13, showing progress throughout the weekend.

RACE 1 RECAP
At the drop of the green in Race 1, de Tullio immediately began challenging pole-sitter Max Garcia, ultimately settling into second by the end of the opening lap. Behind him, Becklin quickly advanced to P15, while Durst held position in P11.

On Lap 2, de Tullio made his move for the lead in Turn Five and never looked back, steadily pulling away from the field. By the end of Lap 3, he had opened up a 1.7-second lead over Garcia, which he extended to nearly two seconds by Lap 4. Becklin continued to gain ground and climbed to P13 by Lap 4, showing early signs of progress. Durst was locked in a tight mid-pack battle, working consistently to find a way past the #6 car of Frankie Mossman ahead while running quicker lap times. On Lap 12, he finally made the pass on Mossman to take over P10.

As the race wound down, de Tullio remained untouchable out front, managing the gap with confidence to secure his second win of the season. Durst matched his best career finish with P10, while Becklin crossed the line in P13, capping a solid opening race for the Turn 3 trio.

RACE 2 RECAP
Race 2 saw de Tullio lining up from pole position, with Durst in P9—his best career starting spot—and Becklin in P13. De Tullio got off to a lightning-quick start, holding the lead through the opening corners and immediately focusing on building a gap to the field. Durst maintained P9 off the line, while Becklin lost one position and dropped to P14.

As the race unfolded, Durst began to slip back through the tightly contested midfield. He lost a position to Jorge Garciarce, dropping to P10, and continued to face pressure as the laps wore on. On Lap 8, he lost another spot to Logan Adams, eventually falling to P14 by the end of the race. Meanwhile, Becklin was forced off track in Turn 5 by the #28 car of Sebastian Manson, which pushed him wide and cost him valuable positions. Despite the setback, Becklin recovered and managed to finish in P16.

At the front, de Tullio remained unchallenged. With a battle brewing behind him between second place Max Garcia and third place Ariel Elkin, he used the opportunity to extend his lead, eventually opening up a 3.5-second advantage. He led every lap of the race and took the checkered flag to claim his second win of the weekend and third victory of the season, commanding the race from start to finish.

RACE 3 RECAP
In Race 3, de Tullio lined up fourth, with Durst ninth and Becklin 10th. De Tullio had a clean and confident start, wasting no time as he overtook two cars in the opening corners to slot into P2. Just behind, Durst made contact with Joey Brienza on Lap 1, damaging his front wing and forcing him to pit for a nose change. The timing of the pit stop meant he rejoined the race a lap down, effectively ending his hopes for another top-10 result.

Meanwhile, Becklin made the most of the early chaos, advancing to P9. A full-course caution came out on Lap 6, bunching up the field, and the restart on Lap 8 gave de Tullio another chance to challenge for the lead. He stayed glued to the rear wing of Max Garcia, maintaining a gap of less than half a second as he worked to manage tire wear while pushing for a late-race overtake.

Becklin continued to show impressive pace in the final race, climbing to P8 and holding steady in a competitive field to secure his best finish of the weekend. De Tullio launched a final push in the closing laps, finishing just 0.3 seconds behind Garcia at the checkered flag and bringing home a strong P2. Durst ultimately finished 17th, one lap down, after a tough start derailed his run.

#44 Alessandro De Tullio // USF Pro 2000 Astropay
"Overall I’m satisfied with the results at NOLA for the tripleheader. Leaving with two race wins, a pole position, and a P2 is a good set of results and good points in the bag. I’m looking forward to carrying this momentum into the Indy GP weekend. Big thanks to the whole team and my partners for a great weekend."

#33 Tyke Durst // USF Pro 2000 Freight Handlers Inc. / Relay Payments / Drive Toward a Cure
"This last weekend was very mixed. I put in my best efforts yet in qualifying, getting two top-ten starts, and in Race 1 we put in a good drive to score our first top-ten of the season. Unfortunately, after that our weekend unraveled in Races 2 and 3. Sometimes this sport is heartbreaking—sometimes it’s due to your own mistakes and sometimes there’s not much you can do. I’m already trying to figure out what I can work on to bring my best to Indianapolis."

#2 Cooper Becklin // USF Pro 2000 Helmet House
"NOLA was definitely a learning experience for me. I started off on the back end, but over the weekend I continued to learn every session and made progress every time I got on track. I finished the weekend off strong with some good consistency and a top-10 finish in Race 3."

Team Owner, Peter Dempsey
“Overall, it was a great weekend for the team. We rebounded well from the disappointment we had at NOLA last year, and all three cars had strong pace throughout the event. We managed the weekend really well as a group, and Alessandro (de Tullio) drove flawlessly from start to finish, maximizing his points in every race and collecting two more wins to close the gap in the championship.”

“Tyke (Durst) had one of his most competitive weekends to date,” continued Dempsey. “Cooper (Becklin) is still a little behind on seat time, but he showed great progress and finished the weekend strong with momentum he can carry into the next event. I want to say a huge thanks to all our team members for their dedication and hard work throughout the weekend. We’re very fortunate to have such a great group of people on our team this season and looking forward to the next event in Indianapolis next month."

Turn 3 Motorsport will return to action May 8–10 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Grand Prix circuit for the next rounds of the 2025 USF Pro 2000 Championship. The event will be another tripleheader featuring Rounds 6, 7, and 8 of the season, with valuable championship points up for grabs.
