NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires program will be back on track this weekend at the most famous race course in the world. Set to do battle on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for the second time in his young career, Christian Weir be back behind the wheel of the #32 TJ Speed Motorsports entry as he takes on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile circuit alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
Hailing from Naperville, Illinois, only a short drive from Indy, Weir will have family, friends and partners on site this weekend to cheer on the USF Pro 2000 rookie.
“It is a busy weekend for us but hoping that we can leave Indy with some great results,” said Weir. “I have only competed at IMS on a few occasions in the past and this will be my first Indy event in a USF Pro 2000 machine, but the TJ Speed drivers proved their speed at the Fall Combine at the end of last season, so I know the cars are good.”
Weir added, “I know the layout so will not need anytime to learn that. Last year in the USF2000 program qualifying did not go my way, and I will aim to get up to speed quickly as well as learn from my teammates. We have a great trio of drivers in the TJ Speed program and think with hard work and some luck, we can have a podium-filled weekend.”
While competing alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the complete USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires ladder series, Weir could showcase his skills at one of the world's most historic facilities. Practice will get underway Thursday with qualifying and wheel-to-wheel racing happening throughout Friday and Saturday.
