NAPERVILLE, Ill. – After an impressive performance at Road America in USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires, TJ Speed Motorsports driver Christian Weir feels confident of his speed heading into the next round of races at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. Taking on the legendary facility behind the wheel of his TJ Speed prepared machine, Weir is looking to continue with the momentum from his most recent qualifying sessions, despite the wheel-to-wheel racing not going as he had planned.
Series rookie Weir spent the beginning of the season learning and coming to grips with his new team, car and series, but managed to find his speed at the historic Road America, claiming his first USF Pro 2000 pole position.
“I’m feeling good after Road America,” explains Weir. “After securing the pole, the start of the race sort of got stolen from us and resulted in a penalty to another driver. So, I’m looking forward to showcasing that speed again, and hopefully having a clean race this time around.”
Christian’s track record at the Lexington, Ohio, track includes a handful of top-10 finishes as well as two years of open-wheel racing experience on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course. The weekend will feature two test sessions on Thursday afternoon, followed by practice and back-to-back qualifying sessions on Friday before racing a doubleheader on Saturday.
