American F4 US Championship driver joins USF Pro Championships ladder
Mundelein, Ill. – Tyke Durst will enter USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire in 2024 with multi-race winning team Turn 3 Motorsport for his rookie debut in the USF Pro Championships development ladder. The 20-year-old is coming off of two seasons in the F4 U.S. Championship where he earned multiple top-10 finishes in the series.
Although Durst has had a lifelong passion for speed, the young American is relatively new to the world of competitive motorsport. On his 18th birthday, his parents gifted him a three-day training experience at the Skip Barber Racing School in Lime Rock Park which ignited his interest in pursuing a career in racing.
To prepare for his entry into USF Pro 2000, Durst tested with Turn 3 Motorsport at Autobahn Country Club and the official Fall Combine series test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October as well as the team’s winter test program at Sebring International Raceway and NOLA Motorsports Park in December where he showed excellent potential and dedication ahead of the 2024 season.
“Turn 3 Motorsport and 2024 represent a new beginning for me,” said Durst. “It’s a chance to show my potential in one of the best motorsport environments on the planet. This season may prove to be the greatest challenge I have ever taken on. I will enjoy every moment of adversity, the daily challenges, and learn something from every input I give the car. The team I’m joining already feels like family and their quality of work is nothing short of the best. Supporting us this year we also have great partners in FHI, Relay Payments, and Drive Toward a Cure. I look forward to returning their support and faith in me throughout the year.”
“Racing has consumed me for the past two years,” continued Durst. “To me, it’s a pursuit of perfection and giving everything you have in the moment you are in. Joining the Turn 3 family has reignited this spark, and I can’t wait to get on track and run to the best of my abilities on the streets of St. Petersburg in March.”
“I’m really looking forward to having Tyke join our team,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “I’ve gotten to know him and build a relationship with him for the past couple of years while he drove for Gonella Racing in F4, and to see his improvements and dedication over the past two seasons from starting at the bottom of the F4 ladder to where is now has been very impressive. He has done a great job fitting into our team and has impressed us with his speed in our winter test program. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do in his rookie campaign in USF Pro 2000. There will certainly be some challenging days ahead of us, but I know he’s up for the challenge.”
Durst will drive the #33 FHI / Relay Payments / Drive Toward a Cure USF Pro 2000 car for Turn 3 Motorsport in 2024. The championship will consist of eight events and 18 races across North America with the season opener kicking off in St. Petersburg, Florida from March 8-10.
