The Aussie-American team shifts focus for next season
The championship-winning name of TJ Speed will be back in the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires in 2023. Closing 2021 as the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda Team and Drivers Champions, TJ Speed currently leads the same two championship chases this season with two event weekends remaining but as news broke last week, the TJ Speed name will be back in the Road to Indy.
“We’ve had a character-building year in Indy Lights and are doing very well in Formula Regional Americas,” explained Tim Neff in a recent interview with F1 Feeder Series. “Now we’re excited to get going in Indy Pro and USF2000 next year. The Road to Indy is a proven pathway for young drivers who want to get to INDYCAR, and we’ve got some promising talent on our radar already.”
Purchasing a pair of Tatuus USF-22 machines over a month ago, Neff completed the deal to operate the Juncos Hollinger Racing Indy Pro 2000 program under the TJ Speed banner in 2023. Set to make his on-track debut at the annual RTI Fall Combine at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it is an exciting time for Neff as he looks to become an integral part of the Road to Indy program.
Neff added: “Ricardo (Juncos) and Brad (Hollinger) have been very successful in Indy Pro 2000 in recent years and have created a great team and platform for us to build on. I couldn’t imagine a better starting point as we take TJ Speed into the series.”
Neff continued, “I am thankful for the opportunity and now the real work starts. With the entire program coming together quite quickly, it is time to pound the pavement, find the drivers and begin testing. We don’t want to enter the Indy Pro or USF2000 series and finish fifth, we want to enter and win and that is the ultimate goal.”
