Pizzi leads the team into rounds three and four
PITTSBORO, Ind. - It is the second USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires championship event of 2023 as TJ Speed Motorsports and its trio of drivers head back to Florida and the Sebring International Raceway. Primarily used as a test track for open-wheel competitors, Sebring will host rounds three and four of the USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires as Francesco Pizzi, Christian Weir, and Lirim Zendeli aim to put TJ Speed on top.
“We had a great test at Sebring a few weeks ago, and I am confident that we will roll off the truck prepared and ready to go,” expressed TJ Speed’s Tim Neff. “Francesco is leading the team in the point standings, but the season is still young.”
With two wheel-to-wheel races of the 18-race season, Pizzi currently sits fourth in the standings courtesy of his pair of top-five results from St. Petersburg with Zendeli in seventh. After a tough weekend in St. Pete, Weir will look to gain momentum in Sebring and climb his way back into contention.
It will be a two-day show at Sebring as Friday will be the home of practice, qualifying and race one on the weekend while TJ Speed branded drivers will return to the track Saturday for the second qualifying session in the morning that will set the grid for race two that afternoon.
Neff added, “While we have not raced here, Sebring is a difficult place to pass so we will be looking to perfect our qualifying setups in the one and only practice to ensure that we can find our way to the pointy end of the grid during the important timed sessions.”
