INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The annual Carb Night Classic kicks off the weekend leading up to the Indianapolis 500 each year on the 0.686-mile oval of Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. This night race event is known for roaring engines and high speeds for local Hoosiers who come to get into the racing spirit. TJ Speed, a new team in the USF Pro Championship Presented by Cooper Tires this season, has yet to race on this track but a recent test has proven that they are ready for the one and only oval event of the season.

After a good round of racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the GMR Grand Prix and NTT INDYCAR SERIES weekend, the team is eager to make a big comeback this weekend on the oval.

“Lucas Oil is a bit of an outlier in our season,” explained Team Manager Tim Neff. “The schedule is unlike any other races, it’s the only oval on the schedule and it’s a night race. We had some bad luck with contact at IMS with a couple of our drivers, and I have no worries that if our drivers can stay clean, they will be able to challenge for race wins and podium results.”

The team currently sits in second in the team championship standings and all three drivers sit comfortably within the top-11 in the driver standings led by Francesco Pizzi who is followed by Lirim Zendelli and Christian Weir.

The Carb Night Classic doesn’t follow the standard Friday to Sunday schedule as most weekends as it kicks off on Thursday with two test sessions followed by qualifying for the weekend. Practice and the 90-lap race around the oval will kick off Friday evening under the lights of Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
