The Allied Building Products Pro Mazda Oval Challenge at the Milwaukee Mile appropriately boiled down to a duel between Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires title rivals Spencer Pigot and Scott Hargrove.

The top two protagonists for the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, Spencer Pigot and Scott Hargrove, are separated by just 14 points with three races remaining this season. With a MAZDASPEED Scholarship on offer to the champion to facilitate graduation to the top step of the Mazda Road to Indy, Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, in 2015 and a state-of-the-art Dallara IL-15 on deck, there is a great deal at stake as the series heads to West Allis, Wis., for this Saturday’s Allied Building Products Pro Mazda Oval Challenge on the historic Milwaukee Mile.

The 19-year-old from Grimsby, Ont., Canada pounced at the rolling start, moving alongside front row starters Nicolas Costa and Kyle Kaiser on the drag race toward Turn Four before taking the lead with a bold maneuver to secure the inside line – and the lead – into Turn Six.

Nicolas Costa overcame a severe bout of stomach cramps to score a finely judged victory in this evening’s Cooper Tires Pro Mazda Grand Prix at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Round 10 of the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires.

American Spencer Pigot and Canadian Scott Hargrove will continue their battle for supremacy in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires at the Cooper Tires Pro Mazda Grand Prix on August 1-3. After nine races and with five rounds remaining, the pair are separated by just 17 points prior to this weekend’s twin bill of 40-minute races at the 2.258-mile, 13-turn Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
