TCU sophomore stands eighth going into the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Leading junior formula open wheel squad JDC MotorSports will cap off their season of Mazda Road to Indy competition this weekend (September 11-13) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., and they’ll have a full paddock of five drivers for this event which will be waged at a facility that is considered to be Mazda’s spiritual home.

Weiron Tan wasted no time in making his presence felt during his rookie season in North America, finishing second at the pre-season Cooper Tires Pro Mazda Winterfest with two wins in five races for Andretti Autosport. The 20-year-old from Kuala Lumpur has since won four races and claimed six poles in the regular season title-chase, but finds himself 51 points out of the championship lead going into the season finale.

American paralyzed Pro Mazda racer Michael Johnson completed his first race of the 2015 season at Mid-Ohio SportsCar Course in August and looks to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend to be officially back in the groove. With the first race jitters out of his system following a March accident that sidelined Johnson for four months, the 22-year-old heads out west to make a statement.
