Dawsonville, GA – VRD Racing is thrilled to announce that Vietnamese driver Owen Tangavelou will join the team for two rounds of the 2025 USF Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Continental Tire, marking his debut in American open-wheel racing. Tangavelou, a race winner in the competitive Eurocup-3 series, will compete in two rounds with VRD Racing, starting with pre-season preparations at NOLA Motorsports Park.
Tangavelou brings an impressive résumé to the team, having secured three pole positions in the 2024 Eurocup-3 season while helping MP Motorsport claim the Team’s Championship title. With proven speed and race-winning ability, he is eager to make an impact in the USF Pro 2000 Championship.
"I am very grateful to begin my American racing journey with VRD," said Tangavelou. "I am looking forward to meeting the team at NOLA Motorsports Park and to our two rounds together in the USF Pro 2000 Championship. I’ll be giving it everything to make sure I can maximize this opportunity."
Supported by the Vietnamese Motorsport Association, Tangavelou’s move to VRD Racing further strengthens the team’s competitive USF Pro 2000 lineup as they aim to challenge for the title beginning with the opening round in St. Petersburg, Florida.
"Owen has shown exceptional pace in Europe, and we are excited to have him join VRD Racing for his first experience in the U.S.," said VRD Racing’s Dan Mitchell.
