Speedway, Ind. – Abel Motorsports and Jacob Abel were able to keep the momentum rolling during the past event at Mid-Ohio for the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, once again finding themselves on the podium.

The weekend started off with open testing, but the weather was the big story. Rain was hit or miss all weekend and unfortunately played a factor during testing. Abel, however, did turn some laps in the wet during testing as a precaution in case rain played a further factor during the weekend.

Qualifying went well for the No. 51 Crosley Brands (www.crosleyradio.com) / Abel Construction team as Abel qualified fourth for Race 1 and fifth for Race 2. Both times, Abel was less than a few tenths off of pole.

Race 1 was a very solid performance from Abel as he was able to run consistent laps and run right on the gearbox of the third-place car of Hunter McElrea. Going into the last lap of the race, Abel got around Hunter to take over third place and gain a spot on the podium.

Passing was at a premium all weekend, and that was on display during the final race of the weekend as Abel was running fast laps but was unable to complete any passes and settled for a sixth-place finish.

“Overall, the weekend was a positive. Getting back on the podium in Race 1 was just another boost for the team and as we head into the final few races of the season, I hope we can continue to carry the momentum and move higher on the podium. I also want to thank Crosley Brands and all of our partners that help make this possible,” said Abel.
