Vancouver, B.C. – Scott Hargrove has narrowed the championship gap to only three points behind the leader after an astounding drive to a second-place finish in the first oval race of the season. Starting sixth on the grid in Saturday evening’s 90‐lap race on the 0.686‐mile Lucas Oil Raceway oval as part of the 69th Annual ‘Visit Hendricks County’ Night Before the Indianapolis 500, Hargrove advanced to fourth place fairly quickly where he settled in for the next 70 laps. As the laps began to wind down, Hargrove was able to maintain his pace where the other leaders were slowing and then with a bold move passed two cars to take over second place on Laps 83 and 84. He was closing rapidly on the leader when laps ran out. For advancing from sixth to second, Scott was given the Quartermaster Hard Charger Award and for his pass from fourth to second he was given the RePlay XD Move of the Race Award.

Scott commented: "Racing in May has been good to me! Out of the five races I competed in, I won four and finished second in this most recent one. It was a great way to cap off the month and Cape Motorsports did a great job to get this Analytic Systems/Mazdaspeed car to the front despite a disappointing sixth-place starting position. We worked really hard to develop our oval setup and to finish second in the team’s first ever Pro Mazda oval race is phenomenal!"

Hargrove's next Pro Mazda Championship races are part of the IndyCar Grand Prix of Houston on June 28 and 29.
