Brownsburg, Ind. – The first oval event of the 2021 Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires kicks off this weekend for Abel Motorsports and Jacob Abel at Lucas Oil Raceway.
After an up-and-down weekend on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway two weeks ago, Abel and the No. 51 Abel Construction/Crosley Brands team are ready for a strong rebound on a very different driving discipline.
Making his oval debut at Lucas Oil Raceway back in 2019, Jacob Abel immediately impressed consistently running in the upper half of the field and finishing the 90-lap race in 5th. The 20-year-old Abel is hoping to build off of his previous experience at the track and carry that to a strong finish.
“After a tough ending to our weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I’m very glad to be able to get back in the car so quickly and especially at a track where I have been fast at before. It’s going to be fun to switch things up and turn left for a weekend, and hopefully deliver a solid result,” said Abel.
Jacob Abel heads into the weekend sitting 10th in the championship standings. Testing and practice get underway at Lucas Oil Raceway on Thursday, with the Freedom 90 going green on Friday night.
