Race One Report: Grand Prix of Mosport
Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck
Starting on the pole position for Race One, Blackstock was unable to show the potential of his No. 28 Pro Mazda machine due to an almost race-long full course caution, but came home with a podium finish in second. The Nashville, TN native will start tomorrow's race from the second position.
"Today was a little disappointing bringing home second from the pole, but I'll take it. The long yellow flag killed us because our cars were coming in (their own). Congrats to Spencer Pigot on his first win. We start P2 tomorrow, and hopefully we can bring home a win for the No. 28 Starstruck Andretti Autosport car."
Matthew Brabham, No. 83
With the lack of green laps during Race One, championship points leader Matthew Brabham started and finished today's race from the third position. The 18-year-old Boca Raton, FL native will start tomorrow's race from sixth.
"I am a little disappointed to lose my win streak (of seven consecutive wins). The car was great - I just made a few mistakes at key points in the race. The safety car period pretty much took up the whole race, so we didn't get much time to race and move up. I can't complain with third place, however. I'm happy to be on the podium and we got some great championship points today."
