SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Abel Motorsports kicks off the 2021 Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires season this weekend at the 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park. The opening weekend will host rounds 1 and 2 of the 18-race championship.

20-year-old Jacob Abel has raced before at Barber Motorsports Park, but this will be his first race event in the Indy Pro 2000 series at the circuit. With spring training taking place at Barber, Abel and the team had the opportunity to get some miles under their belt in preparation for round 1.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt that everyone is really looking forward to getting back on track for a race weekend. With our season last year getting shaken up due to the pandemic, I’m really looking forward to having the consistency of a normal season this year. Though spring training didn’t have us showing our true pace, I’m still very confident going into this weekend and to show our potential,” said Jacob Abel.

Team Principal Bill Abel is also looking forward to getting back on track and seeing his team compete in the Indy Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires Championship.

“We are really looking forward to our second full season on the Road to Indy. The competition level in the Indy Pro 2000 championship is incredibly high, which creates opportunities for us at Abel Motorsports to compete against the best. Although we are currently only running Jacob Abel in the No. 51 Abel Construction/Crosley Brands car, we are hoping to add a second car to our stable soon,” said Bill Abel.
