Juncos Griffis 2019 Recap

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Juncos Racing Indy Pro 2000 three car line-up gave an impressive run this weekend in the Ninth Annual Road To Indy Chris Griffis Memorial test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Matthew Round-Garrido, Phillippe Denes, and Parker Locke all joined the reigning Series Champion team for the two-day test.

This past weekend 21 cars with drivers from around the world joined the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires field on the 2.439 mile, 14-Turn road course. The Juncos Racing line-up ran in all six test sessions, recording a total of 242 laps.

Even though the Indy Pro 2000 field was mixed with veterans to the series and many new faces, times remained very close with the first half of the field less than half a second off the leader. Matthew Round-Garrido driving the No. 9 Excel Lables/Juncos Racing car posted the quickest time for Juncos Racing taking second on the speed charts in the fifth session and would end the weekend 10th overall. Phillippe Denes driving the No. 10 Juncos Racing car posted the 11th fastest time overall, while Parker Locke driving the No. 2 Misano/Juncos Racing car finished 20th overall.

Phillippe Denes (Los Angeles, California) “I was very happy with the performance of Juncos Racing this weekend. They are a very strong team and that showed all weekend. We made improvements every session and I learned a lot overall. I was very impressed with how professional this team is by the people and the way they run their program. These guys worked very hard, so I would like to thank them for their time and dedication. I hope we can work together in the future as I know we would be very competitive, able to fight for wins and even a championship.”

Parker Locke (San Antonio, Texas): “It was a great weekend being back in the Indy Pro 2000 car and running with Juncos Racing. We worked very well together to find the right set up for the car. I was able to improve my overall pace, especially in the last session we improved a lot. I am very happy with how the test went as I learned a lot and had a great time working with Juncos Racing. I want to thank the team for their hard work and I hope we can be back together testing in the future.”

Matthew Round-Garrido (Stourbridge, England): “Overall the weekend went very well. This was my first time working with the team. I enjoyed seeing how these guys worked and I was impressed with how they go about their business. I was running P1 during the last session on old tires, so I think that really shows what we have done and been able to gain on track this weekend. It was a great time being a part of Juncos Racing for this test and I want to thank them for all that we were able to gain over the past two days.”
