BROWNSBURG, IND. – Juncos Racing is excited to announce American driver Scott Anderson will join the team as they battle for the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires.
Scott Andersen, a Colorado native, recently finished third in the 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda, recording two wins and a pole position. Anderson’s racing career began at the age of 14 in karts and continued into various open wheel series throughout the United States. In 2011 Anderson won the Skip Barber National Championship presented by Mazda with six wins.
Anderson is looking forward to his new adventure at Juncos Racing and stepping up into the next level of the INDYCAR’s Mazda Road to Indy ladder.
“I’m extremely excited to be working with Juncos Racing this year,” said Anderson. “We spent a lot of time making this decision and I am confident that we will be a great match. I am looking forward to seeing how things unfold. I want to thank Juncos Racing for this opportunity, Derek Daly and the Derek Daly Academy for their support in coming to this decision, the OtterCares Foundations for their continued partnership, Laser Nails, and Neuropathy Testing Centers.”
Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, sees a lot of potential in Anderson’s racing career and is pleased to add him to his program. Since Juncos formed Juncos Racing, he has helped develop many young drivers through his Driver Development Program, by giving them the skills and knowledge they need on and off the track to move up to the next level.
“I’m very happy to have Scott with us for this 2013 season,” said Juncos. “He has shown a lot of potential by winning the Skip Barber Championship, and finishing very strong in the USF2000 Championship. He is very mature and knows what he wants. There is no doubt for me that he will be very fast and strong this year in the Pro Mazda Series.”
The Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires will begin the 2013 season March 1-2, 2013 at the newly constructed 3.4 mile road course Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. For more information please visit juncosracing.com and promazdachampionship.com.
