Bowmanville, Ont., Canada - Juncos Racing's Scott Anderson captured his first Pro Mazda podium, finishing second in Round 10 of the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires at Canadian Tire Motorsports. Diego Ferreira also secured his seventh podium of the season in Round 10's rae. Juncos Racing remains second in the team points for the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship.
Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Neuropathy Testing Center/Laser Nail Centers car, finished 4th in Round 9 and gained his first Pro Mazda podium finishing 2nd in Round 10's race.
"On Saturday, it was unfortunate to only have a six lap race after a very long yellow. We showed good pace and it was very exciting for us. Definitely a better result than we had in Toronto. We started in the back on Sunday but we had the pace to move up. The car was really fast on Sunday. We took advantage of a couple mistakes made by the people ahead of me and I was able to get my first podium of the season."
Currently second in the driver championship Venezuelan Diego Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela car finished 6th in Round 9 and gained his seventh podium of the season with a 3rd place finish in Round 10's race.
"I was not happy with the first race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park," said Ferreira. "We finished 6th after starting in 5th. We had bad luck in qualifying while we changed tires there was a big crash on track and we were not able to put down a lap. We started 5th in the race and after only three laps there was a yellow after a big crash with Piedrahita and we were yellow almost all of the race. I didn't have much time to make a move. I made a mistake in turn 5 and Costa passed me. It wasn't much of a race. Sunday was a good race for the team though. We started 4th and 6th and both of us finished on the podium. We had a good clean battle between teammates. Scott was a little bit stronger than me and was able to finish in front of me. Since Brabham didn't finish it was a good day for points. I kept calm and finished with my seventh podium of the year. I have to thank the team for a good job this weekend as we tried to figure out the car. Also, thanks to Team Viso Venezuela."
Standing second in the team points championship, Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, was very pleased with both driver's podium finishes on Sunday after a predominately yellow race on Saturday.
"I am happy with the driver's improvement throughout the weekend," said Juncos. "They're improving more each weekend. I'm happy with the two drivers we have and the whole team with the effort that was shown. It's good to have both driver's on the podium and close up the gap in the points lead. We will keep looking for the championship and I hope to carry the momentum to Mid-Ohio in a couple weeks."
The Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires continues next weekend with Round 11 and Round 12 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. For more information please visit juncosracing.com and promazdachampionship.com.
