Juncos Recap WRLS 2019

One Win and Two Podiums Collected by Rasmus Lindh and Sting Ray Robb in Indy Pro 2000 Finale at WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca

Monterey, Calif. – Juncos Racing rookie Rasmus Lindh claimed one win and one podium finish while teammate Sting Ray Robb took one podium in the doubleheader Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend. Juncos Racing was awarded the team championship, finishing 80 points ahead.

After 16 Rounds the 2019 Indy Pro 2000 season came to a close on the 2.238 mile, 11-Turn road course located at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. One practice session followed by qualifying for Round 15 kicked off the weekend Friday.

Sting Ray Robb (Payette, Idaho) driving the Go Out Local/Big Idaho Potato/Juncos Racing car dominated qualifying for Round 15 to claim his second pole of the season. Rasmus Lindh (Gothenburg, Sweden) driving the No. 10 Chicago Pneumatic/Juncos Racing car continued the successful run for Juncos Racing qualifying third.

Juncos Racing continued their dominating performance for the final qualifying session of the 2019 season Saturday morning with both drivers battling for the pole during the 20-minute session. Lindh went on to outpace the field and set a new track record during the final few minutes, along with earning his fifth pole of the season. Robb took the third starting position.

The Indy Pro 2000 field returned to the track later that day for Round 15. Robb started from the pole position while teammate Lindh started just behind in row 2. Robb went on to post the fastest lap of the race and lead 22 of the 25-lap race, falling to second with three laps to go. Lindh earned 12th podium of the season, finishing third.

The 2019 season concluded Sunday afternoon with Lindh starting from the pole position and Robb in third. Lindh went on to lead 16 of the 25-lap race to finish posting the fastest lap and recording his third win of the season. Robb suffered damage during first lap due to a multi car incident, and was forced to pit for repairs. He returned to the track without losing a lap to battle his way back to sixth place.

Lindh ends the season second in the championship by only two points, finishing with three wins, 5 poles, and 13 podiums.

“To finish the championship only two points behind the leader is tough, but we did everything we could as a team throughout the season to fight for the championship,” said Lindh. “We were very consistent, rarely missing a podium finish each weekend. The team did an amazing job all year and always worked hard to give me a fast car. We fought a hard battle here at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to get a win and podium finish. It was great also recording a new track record and grabbing the pole for the final race of the season. Finishing on top of the podium for the final race was everything we worked so hard to do, so it’s great to add another win on a great year with the team. Congrats to everyone on the team for winning the team championship as it is very well deserved. Thank you to everyone at Juncos Racing, Ricardo (Juncos), Road to Indy, Cooper Tires, Andersen Promotions, and my partners at Chicago Pneumatics.”

Robb took home two poles and six podiums to finish fourth in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship.

“To end the season with a pole and a podium finish feels great,” said Robb. “We qualified on pole for the first race and went on to lead most of the laps, however I made a small mistake and was not able to grab that first win of the season. During the first lap of the second race I was caught up in an incident that forced me to pit for repairs, but we were able to get back on track without losing a lap. That pretty much ended our day though which was very unfortunate as I know I had a car to challenge for the win. I had a good time out there running down the cars in front of me and made some nice passes to get through the field to finish sixth. The car was fast all weekend and I cannot thank the team enough for all of their effort and hard work. We end the championship in fourth which is pretty good overall after all of the difficulties we were faced with throughout the season. Thank you again to all of the crew at Juncos Racing, my partners at Go Out Local and Big Idaho Potato, Cooper Tires, Andersen Promotions, Road to Indy, and my family for all of their support.”
