MILWAUKEE, WIS. – Juncos Racing drivers Scott Anderson and Diego Ferreira took home another fifth and sixth in Round Six of the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires at the historic Milwaukee Mile.
Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Neuropathy Testing Center/Laser Nail Centers car, scored a third Top-5 finish (5th) for the season. Anderson qualified fourth on his third oval appearance.
“We were consistently quick in practice starting our day off good in Milwaukee,” said Anderson. “The car handled very well on old tires which I was really looking forward to in the race because we felt like the car was really going to come to us as the race progressed. Unfortunately the balance wasn’t there during the race which it had been all week. We had battled under steer all day and then during the race it switched to battling over steer. Considering those factors we were still able to finish fifth. I want to thank all of my sponsors, Derek Daly, and my team for all of their continued hard work.
Standing second in the driver championship Venezuelan Diego Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela machine, qualified eighth and finished in sixth position.
“I think it wasn’t a bad finish for the ovals of the season,” said Ferreira. “It was a long race and I am just happy to be done with the ovals and move onto the road and street courses for the remainder of the season. I am ready to be back on the podium and gain more points for the championship. I have to say thanks to my team, spotter, and sponsors.”
Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, looks to continue building Anderson’s and Ferreira’s oval experience through his driver development program.
“Even though it was not the finish we were looking for the team and drivers did a great job at Milwaukee,” said Juncos. “Both Scott and Diego continue to show improvement on the ovals and I know with more time and experience they will be standing on the podium. We are ready to get back on the street and road courses where we excel starting next month on the Streets of Toronto. I want to thank my team and drivers, our sponsors and supporters, and my family for their continued support of our program.”
The Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires continues July 13-14 with Round 7 and Round 8 on the Streets of Toronto. For more information please visit juncosracing.com and promazdachampionship.com.
