Indianapolis, Ind. – Juncos Racing rookie Rasmus Lindh delivered the most dominating performance of the weekend in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Lindh not only swept both races but earned both pole positions and broke the track record in Race 2. Teammate Robb picked up another podium finish for the team, taking second in Race 2.
After an almost two-month hiatus in the 2019 Indy Pro 2000 Championship season schedule, the series returned to the track on the 2.439 mile, 14-Turn road course located at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Two test sessions followed by one practice session on Thursday kicked off the weekend.
Rasmus Lindh (Gothenburg, Sweden) began his impressive run for the weekend in qualifying for Race 1. The young rookie broke the track record and picked up his first pole since moving up to the Indy Pro 2000 Championship. Teammate Robb (Payette, Idaho) qualified sixth.
Lindh repeated his dominating performance in qualifying for Race 2, earning his second pole of the weekend. Robb took the second starting position, giving Juncos Racing control of the front row for Race 2.
Later that day, Lindh, driving the No. 10 Chicago Pneumatic/Juncos Racing Tatuus PM-18 could not be caught in Race 1 and would go on to win his first Indy Pro 2000 race. Robb, driving the No. 2 Go Out Local/Big Idaho Potato Truck/Juncos Racing entry finished just off the podium in fourth.
Race 2 wrapped up the second event weekend for the Indy Pro 2000 field. Lindh once again took control from the start of the race, leading all 25 laps to capture his second win in two days. Robb finished off the dominating weekend for Juncos Racing taking second in Race 2, earning his first podium of the year.
Team Owner Ricardo Juncos was awarded both PFC Awards given to the winning team owner.
Lindh leads the Indy Pro 2000 championship by 11 points.
“I am very excited and thrilled with how this weekend went for the team,” said Lindh. “The crew has been working so hard and it shows by the race car they delivered to me. We have had a long break, so this was a great way to get back on track and into the championship. Earning my first Indy Pro 2000 wins at a place like Indianapolis is amazing. This track has so much history, so to have the chance to win here is incredible. Sting Ray (Robb) did an excellent job too. It was great finishing off the weekend on the podium with my teammate. We are going to be back on track shortly, this time on the oval, so we will work hard to keep up the lead for the championship. I want to thank the whole Juncos Racing team, my sponsor Chicago Pneumatic and my family for their support.”
Robb sits fourth in the Indy Pro 2000 championship.
“We had a great weekend here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Robb. “This is a very exciting track to be at and the atmosphere is amazing. We started off the weekend not getting the qualifying position we hoped for, but recovered in qualifying for Race 2 giving Juncos Racing the front row. It was great to finally get on the podium in Race 2 and pick up valuable points in the championship. Hats off to my teammate Rasmus (Lindh) who had a very dominating weekend. I cannot thank the team enough for all of their hard work. We battled a lot of different track conditions, but that did not stop these guys for setting up some fast race cars for us. I want to thank all of my incredible sponsors at Go Out Local and Big Idaho Truck who were here to support us this weekend. I also want to thank my supporters at Trademark Dental, Idaho Bone Collector, Munk Family Dental, and the Fairly Reliable Bobs. God is glory!”
