Juncos Griffis 2018 Recap

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Juncos Racing Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires line-up gave an impressive run during the Eighth Annual Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this past weekend. All three Juncos Racing drivers ran inside the Top-3 for at least one session during the two-day event. Danial Frost earned the second quickest time overall, followed by Rasmus Lindh taking the third fastest time of the weekend.

Drivers from around the world joined the Road to Indy Open Test on the 2.439 mile, 14-Turn road course located at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Three rookies made their debut with Juncos Racing in the Pro Mazda Championship including Danial Frost, Rasmus Lindh, and Cameron Shields.

Weather played a role both days with drivers facing diverse conditions throughout the test. Cool, cloudy conditions kicked off the weekend followed by sunny skies and warm temperatures for the final three sessions on Sunday.

The 2018 Pro Mazda Champions Juncos Racing set the pace in the first session on Saturday with Singapore native Frost taking the fastest time in the No. 62 Juncos Racing entry followed by Lindh finishing second. The 2018 Cooper Tires USF2000 Powered by Mazda Championship runner up Lindh took over the lead in the second session setting the fastest lap in the No. 1 Chicago Pneumatic sponsored car. Frost and Lindh carried their strong momentum finishing second and third in the final session of the day. Shields, who made his first appearance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and official debut in the MRTI ladder series continued to improve throughout the first day jumping from eighth to fifth on the speed charts.

Teams continued with testing Sunday with three sessions. Swedish native Lindh continued with his strong pace finishing third in the fourth and fifth sessions and second in the final test session. The young Australian Shields put together his best run of the weekend in the fifth session earning the second quickest time.

Juncos Racing finished their strong showing second overall on the speed chart with Frost, followed by Lindh in third, and Shields seventh.

Team Owner Ricardo Juncos said, “I am very pleased with what we were able to accomplish with these three young rookies. This was one of the most talented groups we have had the chance to work with at the Chris Griffis test. They all proved to be major contenders in the Pro Mazda Championship by the times they posted throughout the weekend. Each one has a very strong work ethic and that showed with how well they worked with everyone from our mechanics to engineers. We had a great time working with each driver and having the chance to help them succeed in their first time behind the wheel of the Pro Mazda car.  I am very confident that they will go far in their careers and we hope to have the opportunity to work with them in the future. I want to thank Danial, Rasmus, and Cameron for joining us and all of their families and sponsors for giving Juncos Racing the opportunity to run these talented drivers.”
