Indianapolis, Ind. – Braden Eves is making the switch to Jay Howard Driver Development for the 2022 Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. Last year’s runner-up, the 22-year-old American driver was in title contention until the final round. He is confident that a return to JHDD, the team with whom he karted in 2016, will help him take his performance to the next level in 2022.
Already a 10-time winner, 19-time podium finisher, and eight-time polesitter on the Road to Indy, the 2019 USF2000 Champion sees this as a must-win year on his journey to the upper ranks of motorsport.
“I am very excited to reunite with Jay Howard Driver Development to fight for the 2022 Indy Pro 2000 Championship,” said Eves. “Jay helped me make the transition from karts to cars and has helped me develop my race craft throughout my career. It feels surreal to be going full circle and racing with him once again. I know we’re going to be a strong pairing and I can’t wait to see what we can do together!”
Eves clearly has excellent pace, and having already weathered a closely contested championship battle, he comes into this season with experience and maturity on his side. A reunion with a familiar organization that is accustomed to winning championships and realizing the potential in its drivers makes sense, and both team and driver will have their sights set on the title.
“First off, I am very happy to sign Braden. I like to think of it as him coming back to where he belongs!” said team owner Jay Howard. “I worked with Braden back in his karting days, and then in his first ever year of car racing competing in F4 with us. He has been on loan for a few years and now returning to us where it began and where he belongs. We have unfinished business to take care of.”
The JHDD team will hit the track for the first round of the season on February 25-27 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Be sure to keep up with all racing action, news and highlights on JHDD’s official social media channels.
