BROWNSBURG, IND. – Diego Ferreira and Scott Anderson took home fifth and sixth place finishes for Juncos Racing in Round 5 of the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires at Lucas Oil Raceway’s Night Before the 500.  Due to rain the race was then shortened to only 52 laps.

Making only his second appearance on an oval track, rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Neuropathy Testing Center/Laser Nail Centers car, scored a second Top-5 finish (5th) for the season.

“After starting off the weekend, running second in testing I had pretty high hopes for the race,” said Anderson. “I was able to qualify 4th which wasn’t too bad, but you can always do better. During the race we were shuffled back one spot, which hurt us because this is a difficult track to pass at. We remained 5th for the rest of the race and unfortunately couldn’t do anything about it. I want to thank my team Juncos Racing, Otter Cares Foundation, Neuropathy Testing Centers, and Laser Nail Centers for all of their support.”

Venezuelan Diego Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela machine, finished 6th and remains second in the driver point’s championship.

“I am happy to bring the car home after struggling this weekend,” said Ferreira. “It wasn’t much of a race for me and I am ready to move onto the next one at Milwaukee. We are still in the chase for the championship and I look to finish well at the next race. Thanks to my team for all of the hard work they put into the car.”

Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, looks to move forward from a difficult weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway and continue the battle for the Pro Mazda Championship.

“This was a very difficult race, with a big delay for weather conditions,” said Juncos. “Unfortunately we did only 52 laps and 15 were under yellow. After a difficulty in qualifying, starting 4th and 7th was not enough to move up the field in positions for a shortened race. It was hard to face the results, after coming in with 2 poles and 2 wins in the past 3 years. We are looking forward to coming back strong like we always do and to keep fighting for a championship; we still have plenty of races to go. Once again, I want to thank all of the team members for their hard work, our sponsors, and drivers.”

The Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires continues on to the second oval of the season June 14-15 at The Milwaukee Mile in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  For more information please visit juncosracing.com and promazdachampionship.com.
