AUSTIN, TEXAS – Juncos Racing’s Diego Ferreira claims the first win of the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires season in Round 1 at the Circuit of the Americas. Teammate Scott Anderson finishes a strong sixth in the 16 car field.

Venezuelan Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela machine, took home his first win with a flawless performance in Race 1, leading the entire 12 lap race and capturing the fastest lap. Ferreira, who qualified with his first pole starting position earlier in the day, showed he ready to battle for the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship.

“I’m so happy to have my first win in the Pro Mazda Championship,” said Ferreira. “I have worked very hard to get here and my team gave me an amazing car to take to victory circle today. With today’s win we have begun our battle for the 2013 championship. I want to thank the team for all of their hard work, Team Viso Venezuela, all of my supporters and my family.”

Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Laser Nail Centers/Neuropathy Testing Center car, moved through the field to finish just outside the Top-5 in sixth place after qualifying eighth today.

“Today’s race went well,” said Anderson. “I didn’t have the best starting position, so I knew I needed to make up some positions. I was able to gain some spots and finished sixth. I was happy with my result in my first Pro Mazda race!”

Starting the season off with a win, Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, is thrilled with Ferreira’s dominating performance capturing his first win and Anderson’s continued improvement with a Top-10 finish in his first Pro Mazda race.

“Today was exactly what we work so hard for as a team,” said Juncos. “Diego did such a great job claiming the pole and keeping the car up front for the entire race, ensuring his first win. His dedication to continue to improve showed today. Scott did a great job moving up to finish sixth, and I am very pleased with his progress already in his rookie season. My team works so hard to give these drivers fast cars, and I cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work. A big thank you goes to Dan Andersen and John Doonan for making this series even better through the high level of racing they promote, the quality of engines and support they are able to deliver as a series to the Pro Mazda Championship . I also want to thank both drivers for outstanding runs today, my team, all of our supporters, and my family.”
