INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Bobby Eberle had a banner weekend at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis Presented by Royal Purple Synthetic Oil Supporting the Lupus Foundation of America, scoring eighth-place finishes in both races and keeping pace with the far younger drivers in the premier class of the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires.

Eberle qualified eighth in the first race and challenged for seventh throughout the 30-minute event, all the while building a more than 20-second gap to the ninth-place runner.

“This weekend was a tremendous outing from start to finish but it wasn’t without challenges," said Eberle. "In Race One, we started eighth and we had an epic battle the entire race long for seventh position. It was incredible; I really enjoyed it. And we managed to carry that momentum into Saturday’s race.”

Saturday’s eighth-place finish was a success from the drop of the green flag as the No. 13 TITLE Boxing Mazda barely made it out on track.

“We had some really difficult challenges before the race even started. Our radiator hose blew up and the crew worked like crazy to get it fixed, right up until we rolled out on the track, and we finished eighth in that race today. I set the fastest sector of the entire field in the most technically challenging part of the track, and I’m very proud about that.”

All in all it was an incredibly successful weekend for Bobby Eberle. Being able to keep pace with the front runners in the series was encouraging for both driver and team and speaks to Eberle’s decision to go toe-to-toe with the rising stars of the Mazda Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires.

Eberle will next be on track at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., June 23-25.
