ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – Venezuelan driver Diego Ferreira captured two podiums and teammate Scott Anderson scores two top-10s for Juncos Racing in Round 3 and 4 of the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
Claiming his fourth podium finish of the season, Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela machine, finished second in Round 3 and third in Round 4. Ferreira currently sits second in the Pro Mazda Championship driver standings.
“We had a great weekend taking home two more podiums at St. Pete,” said Ferreira. “We were close to another win, but adding two podiums to our points is just what we need for the championship. I am really happy with how well we have worked as a team to keep this car up in the top three within all of the races so far this year. I want to thank my team, sponsors and family for all of their support.”
Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Neuropathy Testing Center, Laser Nail Centers car, stayed within the Top-10 for the second weekend of the season finishing seventh in Round 3 and eighth in Round 4. Anderson stands fourth in points in the Pro Mazda Championship driver standings.
“This weekend was a good example for how important qualifying is and what we need to get better with as the season goes,” said Anderson. “To be able to get out front we need to qualify close to the front of the pack and work our way from there. I am learning a lot within these first two race weekends and will only continue to do my best improving as the season continues.”
Currently second in the Pro Mazda Championship team points, Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, was pleased with his drivers performances, capturing another two podiums and adding valuable points to the championship.
“We had a good weekend overall at St. Pete with Diego finishing on the podium twice, and Scott staying within the Top-10,” said Juncos. “Diego is really showing how much he has learned within one year of being in the series by not finishing outside of the podium within the first two race weekends of the season. The crew did an amazing job giving these guys fast cars all weekend long. I want to thank my crew, drivers, sponsors, and family for all of their continued support in our fifth season.”
