Mexican standout focused on championship run in sophomore season
BROWNSBURG, IN – Exclusive Autosport is pleased to announce the signing of Guadalajara, Mexico native Salvador de Alba to their 2023 USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires stable. The 2021 NASCAR Peak Mexico Series champion made the move to the open-wheel world in 2022 to run a full season of USF Pro 2000 (formally known as Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires) where he gained two wins, one pole, four podiums and six top-five finishes, finishing eighth in the championship.
While racing in the USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires season (formally known as the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires), de Alba continued to run the NASCAR Mexico Series, finishing fifth in the championship with one win, five top-fives and 10 top-10s. Salvador will run the #91 Archandel, Red Cola Tatuus IP-22 with his additional sponsor of Z MotorSports. The 23-year-old proved in 2022 that he could fight for a win at every event and working with EA’s experienced engineers, he is poised to fight for more wins again this season.
“First of all, I’m thrilled to continue racing in the USA,” de Alba enthused. "I am thankful that I have sponsors that believe in this project. I feel way more prepared now that I know almost all the tracks that we are racing at this season! In addition, I would like to thank the Exclusive Autosport team, and I will do my very best to put the Archandel and Red Cola car on top of the chart.”
de Alba’s signing/announcement brings the Exclusive Autosport USF Pro 2000 squad up to four full-season drivers as de Alba will join his already-announced teammates Lindsay Brewer, Joel Granfors and Yuven Sundaramoorthy in the team’s quest for a 2023 USF Pro 2000 Championship.
“Salvador did an incredible job last season and was always a threat on-track,” said Exclusive Autosport owner Michael Duncalfe. “He is incredibly humble and soft spoken off the track and I have a lot of respect for Salvador. I am very excited to have him compete with Exclusive Autosport in 2023 and I’m looking forward to kicking off the season in a few weeks in St. Petersburg.”
In preparation for the 2023 season, de Alba will take part in Exclusive Autosport’s off-season testing program for their USF Juniors, USF2000 and USF Pro 2000 teams leading into the upcoming USF Pro Championships season.
