Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing survived a wet and wild inaugural Pro Mazda presented by Cooper Tires race weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park in the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of Louisiana, April 11-12.

Thunderstorms put a damper on most racing activities as Race 1 was delayed until Sunday morning. 2014 USF2000 Champion Florian Latorre, driving the No. 10, started the race third, Neil Alberico, in the No. 3, started ninth and No. 2 Daniel Burkett started 12th.

All three drivers finished in the top-10 in the caution-free 20-minute race.  Latorre finished fifth, Alberico finished sixth and Burkett finished ninth.

Weather conditions worsened following the race, forcing the cancellation of Race 2.

“Weather was not our friend this weekend,” said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. “We are proud of our drivers for being able to race in bad conditions, and it was a decent weekend for points. On to Barber!”

After the first three races, Alberico sits atop the driver standings with 79 points. Latorre is fifth with 44 and Burkett is seventh with 41. The team continues to lead the standings with a 15-point lead.

The Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires will next be on track at Barber Motorsports Park,April 24-26.
