St. Petersburg, Fla. - Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing picked up another Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires podium finish in the Cooper Tires Freedom 90, May 23. The 90-lap race was held at Lucas Oil Raceway the day before the Indianapolis 500.

Cape drivers Florian Latorre, Neil Alberico and Daniel Burkett qualified third, fifth and sixth respectfully on the 0.625-mile oval course.

In the opening laps, Latorre ran a solid third place, while Burkett did a splendid job fending off Alberico's attacks. After an entertaining battle with many side-by-side laps, Alberico made it through and then set his sights on his teammate Latorre in third place.

Another huge battle ensued for Alberico with his teammate lap-after-lap, side-by-side. After a couple of wheel-banging moments, Alberico eventually made it through. Unfortunately, Latorre’s race got worse as he picked up a slow puncture in the right front.

In the end, Alberico went on to finish third. His performance earned him the RePlay XD Move of the Race Award. Latorre soldiered on to finished eighth and Burkett finished 10th.

“All of our drivers drove really well in tricky conditions, they showed a lot of respect and trust for each other, and we watched some very entertaining battles between them,” said team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape. "Kudos to the spotters who did a very good job. Also, the crew did a great job with a very condensed schedule"

The team will next head to Canada for the Grand Prix of Toronto, June 12-14.
