CHICAGO - Fresh off another podium winning weekend at the Barber Motorsports Park, Chicago, Illinois- based BN Racing will make the short trip south to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With a four-driver team (two drivers set to compete in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda and two others set for action in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires), BN Racing is aiming for the top step of the podium.
Taking on the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway Grand Prix Circuit, David Malukas and Kris Wright will pilot their BN Racing prepared PM-18's while Jamie Caroline and Russell McDonough will do battle on the first step of the Mazda Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires.
"It has been almost two months since our USF2000 drivers have been on track and we will be looking to build upon Jamie's fourth place result in St. Petersburg," explains Bryn Nuttall, Owner of BN Racing. "David has claimed a pair of podium results including a third-place finish two weeks ago in our Mazda program and I am confident that we will be able to fight for victory in Indy."
Sitting third after only four events in the Pro Mazda title chases, Malukas claimed a podium finish in both St. Petersburg in March and Barber Motorsports Park in late April. At Barber, he scored the fastest lap in race two and is excited about heading back to Indy.
"We had a great test at the Chris Griffis Memorial Test back in October of last year," added Malukas. "I love the Indy track and it really suits my driving style. The BN Racing car has been on point this year and I believe that this coming weekend I will be able to fight for the win."
British driver Jamie Caroline should be a threat this coming weekend as he has come to understand the USF-17 car after one event weekend and a few test days leading up to Indy.
Nuttall continued, "Jamie entered the St. Pete event with no testing and having never seen the temporary circuit or the car, and he worked hard to learn throughout the weekend. Salvaging a fourth place result on Sunday, we have had some time to complete testing leading up to Indy."
While Malukas and Caroline should battle for the victory in Indy, Kris Wright and Russell McDonough will look to rebound and restart their 2018 season.
"It was a tough start for Kris and Russell in St. Pete, but we are past the temporary street circuit and to a more wide open facility," explains Nuttall. "I am confident that you will see a different Russell in Indy and Kris showed huge improvement at Barber. With the openness of our team and the coaching and data that we provide, we are working hard to make sure that all four of the BN Racing drivers are at the front of the field."
With a Mazda Road to Indy Promoters Test Day taking place on Thursday, BN Racing drivers will officially cross the yard of bricks on Friday morning with the first of two qualifying sessions. Wheel-to-wheel action will commence on Friday afternoon for race one, while race two of the double header weekend will kick off at Saturday morning.
