RACE 1.
For the first race of the 2020 Indy Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires season, rookie
Devlin DeFranceso
started on the pole position after a technical infraction sent original pole sitter, Danial Frost, to the rear of the field.
Starting on pole, DeFrancesco controlled the field for 14 of the 15 total laps, finishing in second place - only 0.0556 seconds behind race winner, Frost.
RACE 2.
Race 2 of the Friday doubleheader, DeFrancesco started ninth on the grid following a 'qualifying' effort that was decided based on the fastest lap in Race 1 and descending order of lap times.
After a Lap 1 caution, the field returned to green and DeFrancesco began working his way up towards the top five. Following one additional full course caution, the Italian-Canadian found himself in a battle for the third spot on the podium before ultimately finishing Race 2 in fourth.
NEXT.
DeFrancesco and the Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport crew head to the heartland for a tripleheader weekend (Rounds 3, 4 and 5) at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 29-30.

"I’m for sure happy with how the weekend went, it’s always nice to get on the podium and we’re making the car better each time we get on track. We delivered a really good lap in qualifying, but race one was tough. I’m happy with the result and the consistency, but it really hurt to get that close. But, we went out in race two and the car was even better, we have more work to do before the next couple rounds for sure, but I think we’re making progress. I’m really happy with the work everyone at Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport has put in.We know what we need to do on the car and it helps that we already have some laps under our belts at Mid-Ohio so I think it’ll really be game on."
