RACE 1.
Experiencing another first in his rookie Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires campaign,
Devlin DeFrancesco
turned his first laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Part of a tripleheader Road to Indy event, DeFrancesco started eighth for Race 1 having only one practice session prior to qualifying.
Race 1 saw the yellow flag as the field came to the green flag allowing DeFrancesco to gain two positions. Following the restart, DeFrancesco saw himself in a battle in the middle of the pack and made slight contact, but was able to regain sixth position and hold that track position for the majority of the race. Ending under the yellow flag for an incident in Turn 11, DeFrancesco crossed the start-finish line in fifth and was later promoted to fourth following a fellow competitor's post-race penalty.
RACE 2.
Already learning and improving after Thursday's Race 1, DeFrancesco showed his skills during Friday's qualifying session for Race 2 and posted the fourth quickest time of the session. Coming to the green flag for Race 2, DeFrancesco made an impressive pass on the outside in Turn 1 to move from fourth up to second. As the 20-lap race ran caution-free, DeFrancesco maintained the second position to bring home his fifth podium of the season.
RACE 3.
With the fastest lap in descending order from Race 2 setting the field for Race 3, the Italian-Canadian started Race 3 from the third position. Once the green flag dropped, DeFrancesco began battling for second and ended up off track shuffling the No. 17 machine back to eighth position, where he would finish the 25-lap event. Leaving the tripleheader weekend, DeFrancesco falls to second place in the championship, 16 points behind Sting Ray Robb.
NEXT.
With nearly a month-long break following three consecutive race weekends, DeFrancesco and the No. 17 Andretti Steinbrenner crew head to New Jersey Motorsports Park on October 9-11, an addition to the adapted 2020 Indy Pro 2000 schedule.

"Mixed feelings from today. Race 3 was a bit of a bad start with being packed up tight before the start. Then Lap 1 carnage and was shoved off [track] wide was tough to accept. It was one of those days. The Andretti Steinbrenner guys did a very good job through the week considering we never drove here with this car before. I think we need to keep our heads up and fight on. It’s definitely not over. We have several races left and a lot more racing to come."
