Finishing off our week at NOLA Motorsports Park, Canadian Grist and American Blackstock ran their second pre-season race on the 2.75-mile road course.
Garett Grist, No. 27 DaVinci Foods/Lander Property Management
- Second Pro Mazda race of his career
- Qualified P2 at 1:32.804
- Gained the lead on the first lap
- First win in Pro Mazda with over a five second lead
"Today was a great day; it was only our second start in Pro Mazda. We started the DaVinci Foods/Lander Property Management car in second again. Yesterday, we got a poor start and fell back in the field, but today I was able to get a good start, put my head down up front and just knock off very consistent laps and pull away (from the rest of the field). It's a fun track (at NOLA Motorsports Park); it's fun for single car testing, but a little tough for racing as there is really only one passing zone. Definitely a fun track, and hopefully we'll come back here maybe for Winterfest. I have to thank the Andretti Autosport crew and my sponsors for putting me here as I wouldn't be able to do it without them."
Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck
- Qualified P5 at 1:33.392
- Experienced trouble during the start resulting in damage
- Finished P7
"After a very interesting day, we unfortunately found ourselves in trouble at the start; we ended up getting a lot of damage on our car due to the pileup that occurred on our side of the grid, and we finished seventh today. The Andretti Autosport crew worked so hard all day long, and it's unfortunate for the Starstruck car to encounter such bad luck. In the end, congrats to Garett (Grist). We're hoping everything goes well for us in Barber."
